DERA GHAZI KHAN: A portion of railway track on the Quetta-Multan section, in a high security zone near an installation of the Atomic Energy Commission, was blown up on Monday night.
Police said a bomb had been planted under the tracks, which destroyed a three-foot portion of the railway track, causing suspension of traffic.
The explosion took place an hour before the arrival of the Lahore-bound Chiltan Express from Quetta.
The train was halted at the Jampur railway station, some 45km from here. After the blast, police and railway officials reached the place and started repairing the track.
It was the second explosion on railway tracks in the area.
QUETTA: Gas supply was suspended to some areas in the city suburbs on Monday night after a pipeline was damaged in an explosion near Gahi Khan Chowk in the Sariab area.
According to police, the blast destroyed a three-foot piece of the three-inch diameter pipeline.
After the blast, gas supply to many villages in the Sariab area was suspended.
Gas company official said that the pipeline was being repaired and the supply of gas would be restored by Tuesday morning.
BLA (Baloch Liberation Army) clamed responsibility for both of the attacks. 6.2.07
