Occupied Balochistan, QUETTA: Four people, including a doctor, were killed in separate incidents of violence in Quetta, Khuzdar and Mastung on Monday.

According to official sources, Dr Mohammad Yusuf Nasir was shot near his home in Jinnah Town of Quetta. Two persons riding a motorcycle opened fire on him, killing him instantly.

The deceased was a close relative of PML-N Balochistan chapter President Yaqoob Nasir and senior police officer in Quetta, Wazir Khan Nasir.

A case has been registered and police have begun investigating the matter.

Meanwhile in Khuzdar, unidentified assailants killed a clerk working with the Election Commission and his seven-year-old son while they were travelling in a car in Civil Colony.

Another boy suffered bullet injuries in the attack.

The bodies and the injured were taken to Khuzdar Divisional Headquarters Hospital. The deceased was identified as Rahmatullah.

Police said the incident could be a case of target killing, however, investigations would reveal the true nature of the attack. No organisation has claimed responsibility for the killing so far. Another incident of firing took place on Deghari Road of Dasht tehsil in Mastung, in which unidentified armed men shot a tribal elder, Mir Mohammad Hassan. Levies officials said the incident was a result of an old enmity.

Another BNP leader killed in Balochistan

Less than a week after the broad day light murder of Balochistan National Party (BNP) secretary general Habib Jalib Baloch, another senior party leader was shot dead in Kalat District on Tuesday.

According to reports, three unidentified assailants on a motorbike attacked Liaquat Mengal when he was on his way to Kalat city.

Mengal died on the spot, The Dawn reports.

Security officials have sealed the incident site and launched a combing operation to nab the attackers.

Last Wednesday (July 14), unknown attackers had shot dead Baloch outside his residence in Quetta resulting in massive protests in the city.

The BNP had called for a 40-day mourning and a three-day wheel jam strike in Balochistan in wake of Baloch's murder.

The situation in the restive province is expected to worsen with the latest killing.
