Occupied Balochistan QUETTA: The trading activities resumed in Balochistan on Saturday after three days of shutterdown and wheel-jam strike. However, the educational institutes remained closed for the fourth consecutive day.
The Balochistan National Party (Mengal) had given the strike call for three days and 40 days of mourning after the brutal assassination of its general secretary and former senator Habib Jalib, who was gunned down by armed men last Wednesday.
After three days of shutterdown, the business activities in Balochistan resumed as main markets, trade centers and shops here at the Liaquat Bazar, Jinnah road, Prince Road, Abul Sattar Road and other areas remained opened on Saturday with sufficient number of buyers around.
According to reports pouring in from other parts of the province, the business activities returned to routine.
However, classes in schools, colleges and universities remained suspended as the Education Department in the backdrop of Habib Jalib’s assassination had announced four days of closure.
Stringent security measures were in place with the police backed by the Frontier Corps continued patrolling on the roads, besides an additional contingent of the LEAs personnel was also deployed at sensitive points to avoid any untoward incident.
