Quetta: Media reports revealed that Pakistani government and their spies have started to target Baloch students in order to stop them from practicing their democratic right to protest against Pakistani atrocities in Balochistan. The so far largest Baloch student group (BSO-azaad) have been campaigning against military operation, forced-disappearances and state atrocities against Baloch people. Their rallies, protests and campaign have been peaceful and democratic ones, but now the media report suggest that Pakistan’s intelligence agencies no longer tolerate even peaceful protests of Baloch people.
Baloch students Organisation (A) official website Sagaar.org has reported on Tuesday night that one of their Central committee member Mr Jawad Baloch survived an assassination attempt in Karachi. The BSO official website claims Quote: “BSO Azaad C.C. Member Jawad Baloch Survived in Armed attack of Pakistani agencies agents attack at Lyari KUMHARWARA, Karachi on 16th Feb 2010 2:40am”. Earlier last week Balochistan National newspapers had reported that another member of BSO-azaad Mr Naseer Gichki Baloch had been attacked while he was on his way to some work. Luckily Mr Naseer too survived the bid on his life.
January this year BSO-azaad members were attacked in Punjab, district Sahiwal, by the student wing of Muslim league Nawaz (MSF), at least four Baloch students had sustained injuries in that attack. The attack on Baloch students in Punjab spread anger in Balochistan and Baloch students and political parties had not only condemned the attack but also took to streets to protest the unprovoked attack on students from Balochistan. The Baloch students in Punjab’s Sahiwal district were there for study purpose only.
On 15 January 2010 Pakistan FC open indiscriminate fire on a peaceful protest rally that was protesting against the killing of innocent Baloch in Karachi. Two Baloch students were murdered and four others suffered injuries. One of the injured Liaqat Baloch had lost a leg because of severe injuries. That attack also led to wide-spread protests across Balochistan. But the murderers of innocent students still roam free under state protection.
Another attack on Baloch students was reported on Monday, 8 February this year in Multan government Technical College. According to Radio Gwank, sagaar.org and Balochistan national newspapers seven students had been injured in that attack. The students alleged that the attackers had the backing of college administration and Punjab police and the police did not even allow Baloch students to take their injured friends to any hospitals. BSO termed these attacks as state sponsored conspiracy against Baloch students Organisation (azaad), they believe that their peaceful struggle and protests have become a headache for Pakistani intelligence agencies and their cronies.
It must also be noted that several times the houses of BSO-azaad members have been raided by Pakistani security forces and many members of the student groups have been implicated in false charges of explosions and other public disorder. As recent as yesterday two BSO-azaad members have been booked for a blast in Khuzdar despite that fact that Baloch armed group Lashkar-e-Balochistan has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Baloch political parties and student organisations blame the FC (frontier constabulary) for such target killings. Several times the Balochistan government ministers and the chief minister Mr Raisani himself blamed the FC for deteriorating the situations in Balochistan. The chief minister even went to the extant to say that the FC was running a parallel government in Balochistan.
