QUETTA, Jan 6: The activists of Baloch National Movement (BNM) on Wednesday staged a demonstration outside Quetta press club to protest against the forced disappearances and arrest of Baloch political leaders and workers.
They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with various demands such as “Stop torturing political workers” and “United Nation should take action against excess with Baloch people”.
Participants of demo were also shouting slogans against government agencies and security forces.
Addressing on the occasion, BNM leaders including Shah Jehan, Agha Ashraf Dilsooz and Nadir Baloch strongly condemned the alleged atrocities being meted out with Baloch political workers and leaders by government agencies.
Nadir Baloch alleged that a large number of Baloch workers and leaders including Abdul Hayee Baloch, Ghaffar Baloch, Doctor Din Muhammad, Zakir Majeed, Jalil Reki and others had been picked up by government agencies and kept them in torture cells.
He said that if Baloch missing persons were not recovered earlier, their lives might be in danger as earlier government agencies had allegedly killed Baloch leaders and threw their bodies including Ghulam Muhammad Baloch, Lala Munir, Rasool Bakshah and others.
Agha Asharf Dilsooz said that torture cells and military operations could not deter the struggle of Baloch people for their independence.
He said that though Governor and Chief Minister of Balochistan are Balochs but they were unaware about the plight of Baloch people and busy in pleasing their masters.
He regretted and said that Nawabs and Sardars enjoyed a big role in Baloch society and they had always given sacrifices for their people but unfortunately Nawab Raisani and Nawab Magsi were oblivious what was being held with Baloch people.
He said that Baloch children and sisters were observing hunger strike camp for the recovery of their fathers and brothers but they never bothered to express solidarity with them.
He said that the rulers could not further press the voice of people with guns and using forces as Baloch people had announced that they could not live with Pakistan anymore.
Shah Jahan Qadir said that the main purpose of holding this demonstration was to draw the attention of United Nations, humanitarian organizations and world powers towards alleged excesses of security forces against Baloch political workers and leaders.
He alleged that atrocities and excesses against Baloch people had been increased manifold during incumbent so-called democratic government. He demanded of United Nations and other humanitarian organizations to press Pakistani government for stopping them from killing of Baloch leaders and recover all missing persons.
