QUETTA: Three Frontier Corps soldiers were seriously injured when a landmine exploded in the Loti gas field on Sunday.

The blast took place when the soldiers were patrolling the area, an FC spokesman said. The injured men were taken to hospital in Sui.

In Kohlu district, militants fired several rockets on an FC checkpost in Karmo Wadh. No casualty or damage was reported.

Meanwhile, a man identifying himself as Sarbaz Baloch and claiming to be a spokesman for the Baloch Republican Army, claimed responsibility for the landmine blast.

According to him, eight security personnel were killed in the attack.

However, the FC spokesman denied the claim and said that three FC men had been injured.

Six troops killed in Dera Bugti blast

QUETTA - At least six personnel of the security forces were reportedly killed in Dera Bugti district on late Sunday night.

As per reports reaching here, unknown persons had laid a landmine in the area of Jobair near Sui Tehsil of Dera Bugti. A vehicle carrying the security forces hit the landmine causing the explosion that killed 6 personnel of the security forces and injuring 3 others. The vehicle was badly damaged in the blast. All the injured persons and dead bodies were shifted to the Sui Hospital.

Meanwhile, Sarbaaz Baloch, claiming to be a spokesman of the Baloch Republican Army (BRA), in a telephone call from an undisclosed location accepted the responsibility for the incident and said that it was a remote control bomb attack.

However, the incident could not be confirmed from the official sources.
